I think even in my youth our Christmas's were more simple then I came from a large family and we didn't have lot of money. Mom did lot of baking and the gifts were few.
Paula Opolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16382710562280127463noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4271375082145370896.post-4430673729660881812013-12-09T22:08:11.676-05:002013-12-09T22:08:11.676-05:00Main characters: Elanna Hanssen and Major Madison...Main characters: Elanna Hanssen and Major Madison Scott
Time: French and Indian War
I would love to win one of your books. A decoration in the shape of a pickle is hidden in the tree and the first child to find it on Christmas morning receives a special little gift. There are several different origin stories associated with the Christmas pickle. Some say it originated in Germany and others say it is an American tradition.

Trivia question: The book is set in the 1700s during the French and Indian war. The main characters are Elanna Hanssen and Major Madison Scott.

texaggs2000 at gmail dot comBritney Adamshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02972950656114757798noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4271375082145370896.post-87071631566744854462013-12-09T10:06:13.342-05:002013-12-09T10:06:13.342-05:00Your book is based in mid -late 1700 Revolutionary...Your book is based in mid -late 1700 Revolutionary War time period
characters are: Raelene, Elanna, Margaret.
I learned a lot from your post today! I have not read the series but I would love to now. Since our grandchildren have come along, we now go to their house Christmas morning to see what Santa brought and then enjoy a delicious breakfast.Melanie Backushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09727406782355039525noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4271375082145370896.post-48975330066205294992013-12-09T09:03:12.865-05:002013-12-09T09:03:12.865-05:00I love the myths and legends surrounding Christmas...I love the myths and legends surrounding Christmas. I have a slightly different version of the Candy Cane myth on my post coming up on the 11th. It's interesting to see how many different stories surround some of our traditions.

When our boys were little, we had the tradition of opening one gift on Christmas Eve before going to the Candlelight Service at 11 PM at church. We also started buying and decorating our tree on December 10 after our middle son was born on that date. We don't follow these much now as we're not with our children on Christmas Eve. Our family Christmas may take place the week before or the week after Christmas depending on travel. This Christmas will be very different. We'll have one here with middle son and his family then on the weekend drive to our oldest son's for Christmas with them and then have Christmas with our youngest son when they return from their trip.
