I soak it in a bowl salted water for about an hour with a plate on top to keep it submerged. Working with one slice at a time, I coat each slice in beaten egg then dredge it in salted and peppered flour. Then I drop each slice into a frying pan with enough oil to float the slices on medium to medium high heat. I work with only a few pieces at a time, frying until they are light brown, then place on a plate with paper towel to drain. Just like my grandmother used to.
