An interesting thing happened in the naming of this character. I named her "Marah," which means "bitter" in Hebrew. About the time this book was released, I learned of another novel about the woman at the well being released ... and that author had named her character "Marah" as well! I wondered if perhaps that might have truly been her name, and the Lord had led both of us to that selection. I suppose we'll have to wait until we get to Heaven to find out for sure. :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02743799607103669916noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4271375082145370896.post-82338203161125418092015-06-17T20:41:36.101-04:002015-06-17T20:41:36.101-04:00Oh what a variety of ideas for 5 marriages. Her husband could have had girlfriends since he was wealthy. Cannot wait to read this. When I first read this scripture many years ago, I thought that Jesus was forgiving a woman who had known many men and probably had not been married to some. But, as time and age have increased my understanding and hopefully my compassion, I also that she was a victim of circumstances and perhaps unknown heartbreaks. This is such a beloved story because it shows that Jesus can love and forgive everyone and He understands of our choices, good or bad! Thanks for sharing this wonderful story!Connie Porter Saundershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09234596850866029756noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4271375082145370896.post-53518817260342965882015-06-17T11:55:14.177-04:002015-06-17T11:55:14.177-04:00Very interesting, Golden. Many times I made up backgrounds for them just to give them more character. I love what you've done with this one. Like Davalyn said, perhaps the Holy Spirit did whisper and prompt you with details missing from the accounts of this event. Stories like hers and Mary of Magdela inspire me with the truth that God cared for women and our spirits as much as He did His disciples and other followers. Another one I always wondered about was the woman who touched the hem of Jesus' garment. Martha W. And I always wonder, when writing such backstory, does the author perhaps hear a prompting from the Holy Spirit regarding the true details?Davalyn Spencerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07790903623368896086noreply@blogger.com
