There are many good reasons to adopt but I felt sorry for the ones who were adopted just so they could work for the family without being treated lovingly like they should be, some were merely adopted to be 'slaves' and that is just heartbreaking.

wfnren at aol dot comWendy Newcombhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07155923100367204852noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4271375082145370896.post-37030480486956278142020-05-25T06:53:01.449-04:002020-05-25T06:53:01.449-04:00I have heard of the Orphan Trains. I didn't realize the children went to almost every state (fascinating that none went to MS), as well as Canada and the Indian territory. Quite an undertaking in any era, but during train travel especially so. Perhaps if I had lived back then I might have considered fostering/adopting, but my husband and I are childless by choice, and its more likely I would have raised my hand to help coordinate/administrate the program in my town. :-)Linda Matchetthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05921797723329487407noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4271375082145370896.post-81593088992301125202020-05-25T05:45:15.903-04:002020-05-25T05:45:15.903-04:00Yes I heard of it and would have adopted a child b...Yes I heard of it and would have adopted a child back then.
