Continuing our series on Minnesota Historical Society sites, this month's featured site is The Alexander Ramsey House.
One of the most well-preserved Victorian homes in Minnesota, the Alexander Ramsey House, located in the beautiful Irving Park neighborhood of St. Paul, depicts life as it was in Minnesota in 1870. Every room of the mansion is full of Victorian furnishings, artwork, and Ramsey Family artifacts.

The Alexander Ramsey House, located in St. Paul, MN, is now owned and operated as an historical interpretive site by the Minnesota Historical Society. The house is also one of the most often used for special tours and events called Ramsey House After Dark. You can explore famous murder trials, Victorian traditions, historic events of the Twin Cities, and customs and practices of Americans of the nineteenth century.

I enjoy visiting historical homes and may need to add Minnesota to my list of places to visit for historical events. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYou won't be disappointed! The MNHS is world class!
DeleteMinnesota history has fascinated me since I learned about the 1862 Dakota War and wrote the Dakota Moons Series. Thanks for this reminder ... and for letting me know about a place I need to visit!
ReplyDeleteI have studied the Dakota War extensively and visited most of the sites. Fascinating stuff, and so few know about it!
DeleteI love touring old homes like this, especially ones still decorated as they were originally. Thanks for this look at one of the beautiful Victorian homes preserved for history.
ReplyDeleteIf you get to visit the Ramsey House, Christmas is a great time. They decorate the mansion in Victorian Christmas, and it is beautiful!
DeleteSuch a beautiful home. We'll have to see what's on the docket for other Ramsey After Dark tours.
