These parties are exciting! Hopefully I will get in there soon!!
ReplyDeleteConnie, thanks for leaving a comment. You are a faithful reader!
ReplyDeleteQuestion for Tom: how did you come across the information about the Santa Claus Bank Robber?
ReplyDeleteThanks for your interest, Donna. In the 1990s, I served as a pastor in the Texas county where it all happened in the 1920s--Eastland County. I loved hearing residents talk about their county's most (in)famous crime. In addition, I was able to do a lot of research by reading the original newspaper accounts on Newspapers.com when that became available. Since it was the "OJ trial" of its day, there was a lot of newspaper coverage. Also, since I now serve a church in Austin, I was able to do some research a our wonderful state library and archives near the capitol building. At the back of my novel, I have a 5-page author's note called "Fact and Fiction" where you can read all about this process and find out what details from the novel were historical--and there's much more that's factual than people at first think. It's a crazy true story.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy these parties! It is great to see a couple new to me authors. It is always fun to meet new people.
